About all-things-Gable & Grain

Hello, I’m Gina. Designer, self-proclaimed perfectionist and avid tea drinker (one big sugar, with milk in first please)!

Gable & Grain is my third baby, alongside my mischievous pup, Wilson, and little girl, Mia. I live in the English countryside with my husband, Simon, where my little studio is housed in a little brick building at the bottom of our garden.

My design journey began many years ago at school in Mr Jiggens’ graphic design class where I think it’s fair to say I caught the ‘design bug’ as I went on to study graphic design for the next eight years at school, college and university. I landed my first ‘proper’ design job in London, working as a junior designer for Harrods, and then moved to The White Company, designing graphics for stores and windows. I’ve also designed for a number of other beautiful high end brands, including Plum & Ashby, Eden Hall, Will & Bea and Joy Interiors.

Through this time, I discovered a love for traditional craftsmanship and fine materials, whilst understanding the importance of good design and typography. I stumbled across the arts of flower pressing and foil blocking, and now through these age-old crafts, I design from garden to paper with my selection of flower presses, whilst adding a little touch of luxury with my very own hot foil press.

So please, find a comfy spot, pour yourself a cup of tea and have a peruse around my little corner of the internet.

What do I do?

There’s so much to tell you about my stationery, which you will see as you wander around my website, but in a nutshell this is what I do…

Flower
pressing

Through the art of flower pressing, I design beautiful floral stationery from garden to paper.

I pick flowers from my garden and local flower farm to press and design within each collection. These are then printed onto luxuriously thick paper and paired with shiny foil blocked wording.

Foil-blocked
stationery

Each piece of stationery is printed by me using my very own state-of-the-art hot foil press.

Each design is made into a metal plate, which is individually stamped onto the paper with foil, leaving a beautifully authentic (and shiny!) indentation in the paper.

Carefully crafted
little details

I truly care about making extraordinary stationery with beautiful little touches that make them above and beyond special. After all, luxury is in the detail, right?

Whether it be a wedding invitation suite printed with flowers pressed from your mother’s garden, or your day to day planner with sumptuous textures, no detail is ever spared around here!

The finest materials
& production

Extra thick uncoated paper, hand-dyed silk ribbons, shiny foil and beautiful packaging; only the finest materials are selected to create each and every single piece of stationery.

Almost all of the production, assembly and posting is done by me in my little garden studio. For anything else, I have a carefully handpicked selection of suppliers, many of whom are small businesses, like me!
